My Background and Philosophy
I am bilingual (Spanish) and have been in the field of psychiatry since 1993, for years working as a nurse and then a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I have treated all ages. I graduated from Russell Sage College with a BSN in Nursing, I also graduated from American International College with a Masters in Human Development and from Rochester University with an MSN as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am board certified and licensed in MA, CT, and NY. I have been married to a radiologist for 34 yrs., we have three adult children and four grandchildren. I enjoy doing yoga, prayer, meditation, reading, spending time with family, and travel.
My philosophy on treatment is that I am here to serve and help, this involves developing a therapeutic alliance, in which patients are treated with dignity, goals are mutually set, there is no judgment. The use of medications, is just one tool, and are used with great care, the least amount, with the least side effects and the greatest efficacy. Medications and psychotherapy have been shown to be the most effective in treatment. Psychotherapy focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
